For those of you who aren't familiar with us, Alway Primary is a school on the eastern side of Newport.
The school has about 420 pupils on roll, helping children learn from Nursery, and on through Key Stages 1 and 2.
The School also has a Learning Support Centre on site, where children with learning and behavioural difficulties are allowed to develop in an environment adapted to their needs. Whenever possible, these pupils are integrated into mainstream, to aid their social development.
Along side the National Curriculum taught in the school, we also make sure the children develop as individuals. We ensure all children know about their world, about other people in the world and where their country fits into it. We are also an eco-school. Every oppourtunity is taken to make sure the pupils know how to look after their planet, and protect it for future generations.
Things do not stand still in education, and we are looking at ways of bringing in new technologies into the class every day. We have a number of interactive whiteborads in the school, which have helped greatly is presenting work in a whole new way to the pupils. Pupils also have the oppourtunity to work with digital photographs and video in creating and imporving their work.
Recently the school has seen some structural developments, improving disabled access and facilities for both pupils and staff.
